Why choose the UW in the High School program?
The UW in the High School (UWHS) program gives groups of qualified high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take five-credit University of Washington courses for credit in their own school with their own teacher. UWHS courses use the same UW curriculum, activities, text, tests and grading scale used in courses taught on the UW campus.
Students who have completed a UWHS course say they are better prepared for college-level work in the areas of writing, mathematics, earth science and world languages. UWHS courses can help improve students' study habits as well as make them more adept independent learners - skills necessary for success in college courses.
Students who attend the University of Washington can use UWHS courses to fulfill UW exit requirements or apply the credits toward general degree requirements.

What if the UWHS program is not offered in my school?
As a parent or student, you can inform teachers and administrators about the program. Contact UWHS Program Staff to learn more about this great opportunity. If the on-site program is not yet at your school, you may be able to take a UW credit course through UW Online Learning

"UWHS courses provide an excellent example of the strenuous demands that college courses historically have. These courses are perfect for the determined pre-college student."
