Making the transition from state-funded to self-sustaining
Since 1990, the Undergraduate Evening Degree Program has been helping students fulfill their dreams of earning a UW degree. In 2002, when state funding for this program was eliminated, UWEO helped the degree-completion program transition to a fee-based funding model. This transition was not easy since the program, which once offered 15 undergraduate majors, could now only offer five majors. It only took a couple of quarters for the initial "shock" of the change to wear off, but the program is now stable and growing thanks to the hard work of UWEO advising and recruitment staff, a new, more aggressive marketing plan, and a brand new web site.
