A First-Year (Level I) Writers' Program

Approved by the UW English Department

Did you read the classics as a child? Now you can bring your own tales to the page. Taught by award-winning authors who are experienced writing instructors, Writing for Children is perfect if you're interested in bringing your creative imagination to life in the form of a children's book. This program takes you from story idea development to revision, and also helps you understand the publishing industry. You have the opportunity to experiment and sample the field as you develop stories of your own. You'll explore children's fiction and nonfiction, including picture books, chapter books and novels. Guest authors share their unique perspectives.
