- Courses in this program are sequential. Students may begin the Seattle series in Autumn 2007.
- Courses and instructors are approved by the UW Department of Computer Science & Engineering, one of the top 10 computer science programs in the country. A certificate and nine Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded to participants upon successful completion of the program.
- Participants have access to resources of the University of Washington libraries while enrolled in this program.
- The program's text is Software Testing by Ron Patton. There are also supplemental readings.

Software Quality Assurance and Process 
Autumn 2007 Start
Schedule: (10 sessions) Mondays and Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m., Oct. 1-Oct. 31, 2007; $619; 3 CEUs. Instructor: Tom Gilchrist
An introduction to software testing. Topics include the software testing cycle, the role of the tester in the software development life cycle, and software quality assurance techniques, approaches and processes. Participants build terminology and definitions, and learn peer review and inspection processes for defect prevention.

Software Quality Control and Process

Topics include planning and executing validation activities for defect detection after requirements are coded. Participants learn the defect discovery process from risk assessment to creating test design specifications, identifying the basics of black and white box test techniques and summarizing results.

An application of validation testing processes from designing test scripts to implementation. Through hands-on real-life case study exercises, participants learn to track defects and document results.
