Professionals who work in a variety of fields take this program to acquire in-depth knowledge of Perl and practice its use. Referred to by its creators as "the duct tape of the Internet," Perl is a flexible and powerful programming language that can handle many tasks, from system administration to web programming to complex object-oriented systems.
Perl is one of the most widely used languages to write CGI (Common Gateway Interface) applications to produce sophisticated and interactive pages for websites. Because it runs nearly everywhere, Perl is one of the most portable programming environments available today. Participants in this program must have a laptop computer.
