Approved by the UW Museology Program and the UW Departments of Art History and History
There has been phenomenal growth in the number of museums throughout the region. Expanding museum collections and the introduction of new public programs have created a demand for professional development. This certificate program is designed for individuals interested in volunteering or working in a museum environment.
Program participants gain practical knowledge and skills through lectures, discussions, readings, demonstrations, guest presentations, field trips and exercises. They design an individual museum project that is tailored to their interests.
Taught by leading museum professionals, classes are held on Saturdays on the UW campus and at local area museums. Hands-on, practical aspects of museum work are presented.
