Marketing Research and Decision Making is a nine-month, three-course certificate program designed for you, a professional with a background in mathematics and/or quantitative analysis, who desires to further develop your career by learning how to apply your knowledge in the field of marketing research. You will begin by first learning how to properly define the market problems, then progress into market research design, questionnaire construction, acquisition of accurate sampling, and using SPSS to analyze data.

Marketing Research and Decision Making examines methodologies that are useful for analyzing customer databases and presents models that can be applied in the analysis of marketing problems and the support of marketing decisions. You will also be exposed to new developments in online research, web surveys and data analysis. The final course involves an independent study in which you will complete an applied market research project using the models and techniques learned. The program is taught by UW Marketing faculty members. The marketing department chair or a designated faculty member will review the independent project during the spring quarter. The program provides you with nine CEU credits.

To be an ideal applicant you should have at least a BA/BS degree including successful completion of courses in statistics and/or quantitative analysis; and preferably at least one marketing course; as well as at least two years of work experience in a quantitative analysis position. If you are seeking to broaden the applicability of your knowledge and skills in statistics into the remunerative, broad field of marketing research, you are encouraged to apply.
