Carlene Cross
Cross has authored two nonfiction books, including The Undying West, a narrative history of Montana, and Fleeing Fundamentalism, a memoir examining fundamentalist religion in America. Fleeing Fundamentalism was selected as a Top Book for Fall 2006 by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, an Arts and Media Award Book by the Dallas Morning News, and a Top Book for 2007 by Kirkus Reviews. The Undying West was chosen as a runner-up for the Washington State Governor’s Award. Cross has written television scripts for PBS and taught nonfiction writing classes throughout the Northwest. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in communications from the University of Washington.
