The Human Resources Manager
Schedule: (10 sessions) Mondays, 6:00-8:30 p.m., Sept. 29-Dec. 1, 2008; $569; 2.5 CEUs.

This course presents a comprehensive overview of the role of the human resources professional and the HR function as a strategic business partner within an organization. Topics include:

Employee Relations

This course emphasizes employment laws and practical skills for managing the employee relations function. Topics include:
- Anti-discrimination laws governing the employment relationship
- Investigation of discrimination and whistleblower complaints

- State and federal employment laws governing the need for family and medical leave

This course explores the training "Best Practices" of leading industries, and provides strategies and tactics for managing training and staff development. You will build skills in understanding, performing and leading the development, creation, implementation, and management of an effective training and development program. Topics include:
