Program Overview
Guardianship is a socially rewarding profession, and the need for quality Certified Professional Guardians is growing. This 90-hour certificate program provides a comprehensive overview of professional and lay guardianship of the elderly, developmentally disabled, and other persons that have been declared "incapacitated" by Washington State courts. In this program, you will develop the skills necessary to effectively navigate the social and health service system on behalf of your clients. In addition, you will learn the fiduciary responsibilities, legal/regulatory frameworks, and ethical contexts required to be a Professional Guardian in Washington State. This certificate program will be delivered in a hybrid format with a mix of online classes and onsite classes offered at the UWEO Bellevue facility.
Is Guardianship Right for You?
For those starting a career as a Certified Professional Guardian (CPG), this certificate program is one of the prerequisites to obtaining CPG certification in Washington State (as governed by the CPG Board, independent of the UW).
