This program is intended for C++ programmers who want to enter the game development field.
Participants will learn how to develop a 3D game: they will write code to implement the 3D graphics, load 3D graphics models, and implement the sound, user interface, and game play required by games. Students then learn how to add more advanced techniques, including multiplayer, skeletal animation, and AI, into games.
The lectures cover the techniques specific to programming games, and the homework assignments reinforce the learning. While the assignments require developing a game using DirectX on the Windows platform, the concepts taught in the program also apply to casual, mobile, console, and multiplayer games.
The Game Development Certificate Program is designed by UW faculty and leading professionals in the field, and approved by the UW Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
