As nonprofit organizations ramp up their fundraising efforts, and as seasoned fundraising professionals move out of the field, there is an increasing shortage of experienced fundraising professionals in the Seattle area. Yet social service agencies, educational institutions, health care providers, arts organizations and political and environmental groups rely on fundraising professionals to help generate new sources of support.
This program empowers the nonprofit sector to further their mission by teaching effective tools, techniques, and methods within a framework of professional standards and ethics. It provides a solid professional platform on the fundamentals of fundraising techniques to extend the tradition of philanthropy.
New for 2008-2009, the program will include a field work or practicum project. This hands-on experience provides you with a deeper understanding of resource development as process and fundraising activities as method. It bridges classroom learning to real-life application and provides real-life experience for your portfolio or resume.
This program is appropriate for fundraisers with zero to three years experience, board members and volunteers seeking broader skills, and professionals seeking new careers in fundraising. Those with three-plus years may be more suited to the new Advanced Fundraising Management certificate program.
