Interested in taking a single class? Some courses (designated by a Class is also available to professionals who do not intend to pursue the certificate, but wish to enroll in individual classes on a space available basis below) may be open on a space-available basis to professionals who are not seeking the certificate. Classes meet primarily on Wednesday evenings, with some Monday evenings, at UW Extension Downtown, Seattle.

Autumn Courses

Legal Issues in Contracting and Procurement Class is also available to professionals who do not intend to pursue the certificate, but wish to enroll in individual classes on a space available basis

Schedule: (8 sessions) Wednesdays, 6:00-9:00 p.m.,
Sept. 24-Nov. 12; $570; 2.4 CEUs. Instructor: Ken Grover

Includes and overview of contracting issues which serves as a foundation for other courses. Topics:

  • Sources of law (Washington Common, UCC, Equity Law)
  • Agency theory for employees, contractors, suppliers
  • Procurement of goods (Uniform Commercial Code-UCC)
  • Contract formation; elements of a contract
  • Contract performance and remedies
  • Intellectual property
  • Government regulation and contracts
  • Commercial torts including libel, privacy, commercial interference
  • Miscellaneous issues including warranties, bids, licenses, leases

Negotiation SkillsClass is also available to professionals who do not intend to pursue the certificate, but wish to enroll in individual classes on a space available basis

Schedule: (5 sessions) Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00-9:00 p.m., Nov. 19-Dec. 10.; $449; 1.5 CEUs. Instructor: Dave Hickman
