Virtually all organizations today store and manage large amounts of data. Whether you work for a large multinational corporation, a local government, or a smaller nonprofit, there is a wide variety of data being captured on customers, donors, vendors, merchandise, transactions, relationships, demographics, geographies, financial information and much more. The problem now lies in having a surplus of data rather than a shortage issue.
The purpose of this certificate program is to find effective ways of dealing with the vast amounts of data available and using that data to make informed decisions. The first two courses in this three-course series discuss the importance of data presentation and visualization, help you understand the techniques with the most impact in your specific work environment, discuss multi-dimensional data architectures, and empower you to perform what-if analyses, statistical analyses and time series. The third course will delve into data mining, looking at various data mining applications, discussing pitfalls, considering requirements and preparation, and building mining models.
The certificate will be a blend of theory and praxis. A number of concepts, models, tools, analyses and approaches will be discussed, but you will also gain valuable first-hand knowledge through independent work, as well as collaboration projects with real-life applications.
Is This Program Right for You?
If you are a business, financial or data analyst, a Database Administrator (DBA), a Business Intelligence Developer, a project manager making decisions with large amounts of data, or simply a "spreadsheet jockey," the Business Intelligence: Decision Making certificate program may be for you.
