Instructors

Practicing architects and others who play professional roles in the construction of a house serve as guest speakers.

Bruce Donnally
Principal, Donnallyarchitects

Donnally has taught and lectured at the University of Washington, and has been a frequent guest critic there as well as at Yale and the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Department of Architecture Professional Advisory Council, and has served as its chairman.

Donnally is the principal owner and founder of the firm of Donnallyarchitects. He earned his bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Virginia, and his master's degree from Yale University. During his 20 years of practice, he has designed and managed projects with a number of nationally recognized firms; his work has been recognized with both regional and national design awards; he has also written for Arcade, the journal for architecture and design in the Pacific Northwest.

William Zimmerman
Lecturer, UW College of Architecture and Urban Planning

Zimmerman teaches residential architecture to graduate and undergraduate students as well as homeowners. He has also taught graduate design studios and served as the adviser on many graduate thesis committees. Zimmerman is a member of the Department of Architecture Professional Advisory Council, and has served as its chairman.

A registered architect in Washington and California, Zimmerman has had a private practice since 1977, specializing in custom residential architecture. His work has received broad recognition in publications such as Pacific Magazine, Sunset Magazine and Better Homes and Gardens.
