Would you love to engage children in performance development materials that spark creativity in children and older youth, paint a set or create puppets for a puppet theater, or decorate a children's museum? This certificate program will enhance your creative potential by helping you identify and develop your unique talents and style for the children's arts and performance market. It will also help you build your storytelling power through multiple artistic media, so you can take advantage of the many opportunities for creative artists and educators. The program's curriculum covers visual, performative, and narrative composition, character study, story analysis and research, while exploring the fields that engage children and youth creatively.
At the end of the program, you'll have a market-ready portfolio plus tools to enter the world of developing creative products and activities for and with children and youth audiences. Student portfolios are reviewed by professionals in a variety of artistic fields.
Is This Program Right for You?
This program is designed to meet the needs of those who wish to create art, theatre and creative activities for children, or who want to engage children directly in creative and artistic pursuits. If you're one of the many artists, teaching artists, writers, after-school and paraprofessional teachers and aides, and materials developers in the Puget Sound community who already have some basic artistic or childcare training, and who want to further their artistic aspirations in the direction of child education and entertainment, this program is for you.
