Office hours are Monday-Friday, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in Lewis 103. Please call the English Language Program Reception (206-543-6242) to schedule an appointment. I look forward to seeing you!

GUIDELINES FOR LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Letters of recommendation are often required as part of the application process for universities, graduate and professional schools, jobs, and scholarships/fellowships. If you want to request a letter from one of your ELP instructors, please ask the teacher in person. Your teacher will likely have questions about the purpose of the letter and the program you are applying to. Please make the request at least two weeks before you actually need the letter. Give specific information about the letter and any guidelines and include your statement of purpose, if you have one. Since the end of the quarter is a busy time for everyone (final exams, grading, travel, etc.) we ask that no letter requests be made after Week 7, except in extraordinary circumstances.

PLANNING TO TAKE IBEP OR BUSIP NEXT QUARTER?
If you want to apply to IBEP, you must complete level four in all skill areas in the campus IEP program or submit a TOEIC score of 550 or a TOEFL score of 470. If you filled out a preregistration form, you must still complete an application and submit a deposit to take the course. If you do not do so, you will not be able to take IBEP next quarter. Please apply as soon as possible because space will fill up quickly. For more information, please contact the Downtown ELP office at 206-685-0606. If you want to apply to BUSIP, you must complete the upper division of courses or submit a TOEIC score of 650 or a TOEFL score of 500. If you filled out a preregistration form, you must still complete an application and submit a deposit to take the course. If you do not do so, you will not be able to take BUSIP next quarter. Please call our office before applying because space will fill up quickly. For more information, please contact the Downtown ELP office at 206-685-0606.

GET TO KNOW THE ELP STAFF…
Each week we will include a profile of an ELP teacher or staff member in the Essential Newsletter so you can get to know more about us.

Cindy Etter, is a rare teacher--someone who was born in Seattle! She has lived in Washington State for most of her life, with interruptions as an exchange student in France, a teacher in Spain, and a summer teacher in Japan. In addition to thinking about new homework assignments for her students, she loves gardening, cooking, and spending time with other people's children because her own son is a college student in California.
