- Application Form and Fees
International students applying for the Evening Degree program must complete the application online. All requested information should be filled out completely. The online application form must be submitted with an application fee of $50, payable online using a credit card, debit card, or electronic check. Online applications can not be submitted unless the application fee has been paid. The application fee is nonrefundable.
- Statement of Financial Responsibility
In compliance with U.S. Immigration, applicants are required to show proof of adequate finances to study in the U.S. All applicants must complete and sign the Statement of Financial Responsibility (this is a PDF file; viewing it requires Adobe Reader). A bank letter or statement must also be submitted as additional evidence of your financial resources, but it is not a substitute for the actual form included with the application.
- Personal Statement
- English Proficiency Exam
Official exam results from the TOEFL, APIEL, IELTS or the UW-administered MLT must be submitted directly to the University from the testing agency center and must be received by the application deadline.
Submitting Official Exam Results:
- Scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to the UW. Score reports provided to you by the testing agency (examinee score reports, student copies, or photocopies of score reports) will not be accepted.
- Make sure that the name on your score report matches exactly the name you give on your admission application form. Even a slight difference in the name will prevent the scores from being matched to your application file. If there are any differences, be sure to notify UW Admissions.
- Select an examination date that will allow the results to reach the Office of Admissions by the application closing date. Scores received after the admissions deadline will not be considered. Applicants who have not yet met the minimum English proficiency requirement or have not taken one of the exams will not be considered further.
- Academic Credentials (Transcripts)
- Official* credentials (transcripts) from all secondary schools or high schools attended, with official* English translations, must be submitted by all applicants.
- Official* credentials (transcripts) from each accredited college, university, professional school, or technical school attended, with official* English translations, must be submitted by all applicants.
- Transcripts must be received from all schools attended and must include all coursework completed before the application deadline.
- North America: A high-school transcript is official if it bears the official seal and signature of the issuing institution and it is sent directly by the school to the Office of Admissions. You may also mail or deliver transcripts sealed in an envelope by the school, provided that you do not open the original envelope.
- Other countries: Secondary school credentials must include a list of courses taken and grades or examination results obtained in the last three, or preferably four, years before graduation (equivalent to 9th through 11th grade in the U.S.). If you take secondary school exams (HKCEE, O level, etc.), you must submit the actual, official exam results. All credentials should indicate the grade, the amount of time spent on the course, and the general time frame of the academic year in your country. School profiles should be included with the credentials where available. Once submitted, all documents become the property of the University and cannot be returned.
* To be official, credentials must be original documents, or photocopies stamped as certified-true copies by school officials at the institution attended, or by other educational authorities. Notarized copies are NOT considered official documents. All credentials written in any language other than English must be accompanied by an official English translation in the same format as the originals. To be official, the translations must be original and also be stamped as official by the school or be certified as accurate by a qualified translator. Student translations are not considered official.
- Application Deadline
All required application materials must be received in the Office of Admissions by the application deadline. The application closing date for international transfer students applying to the Evening Degree program is May 15 for Autumn or Summer quarter. Under no circumstances will late applications be accepted. It is the responsibility of the applicant to verify that all required admissions materials have been submitted by the application closing date.
Notification of an Admission Decision
Written notification of an admission decision will be sent to all applicants. The Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20) will be sent to students who have been offered admission and who have confirmed enrollment with the University.
